  • Crow Creek Park Trail - Crow Creek Park, 4800 Devils Glen Road, Bettendorf, IA 52722
    With connections to several other trails and paths, the 1.4-mile Crow Creek Park Trail near Bettendorf homes for sale accommodates both long and short trips. The namesake creek parallel to the trail provides a serene and scenic setting. After your run or walk, take Fido for a romp at the onsite dog park. Hours are dawn - 10:30 p.m.

    If you're a veteran or fledgling birdwatcher, head to Dan Sherman Trail at Sunderbruch Park. Frequent opportunities for spotting birds make this park a popular site for many walkers and runners. The moderately difficult 2.2-mile trail can be completed by most people in less than an hour. Take a break or stop for lunch at one of the benches or picnic tables along the way. Sunderbruch Park, just down the street from Davenport homes for sale, is open 24/7.
  • Kiwanis Trail - Green Valley Park, 4700 53rd St, Moline, IL 61265
    Kiwanis Trail, accessible through Green Valley Park near Moline homes for sale, has a convenient dedicated bike path, leaving a paved trail for unobstructed use by walkers and runners. Lovely views of the Rock River are one of the natural amenities found along the way. The 6.5-mile trail is part of the Hennepin Canal Parkway Trail, spanning five Illinois counties, as well as the Rock River Trail, running from Illinois to Wisconsin. Hours are 6 a.m. - sunset.
  • Paul Skeffington Memorial Trail - Westbrook Park, 520 Westbrook Drive, DeWitt, IA 52742
    At an even 100 acres, the largest park around DeWitt homes for sale is the site of the Paul Skeffington Memorial Trail. Named for a popular local businessman who passed away in 1988, the five-mile path is considered easy for any level of experience. Much of the trail passes through wooded areas that provide shade and beautiful surroundings. For more than 25 years, the trail has also been the site of a well-attended race by the same name. Park hours are 6 a.m. - 10 p.m.
  • Eagle Point Park - 3923 N. 3rd St., Clinton, IA 52732
    Perched high above the Mississippi River, Eagle Point Park is the "historic jewel" of the park system serving the community around Clinton homes for sale. The park dates back to 1888 when it was established by the Clinton and Lyons Railway. Many of the onsite amenities were constructed by the Works Public Administration during the Great Depression of the 1930s. Prairie Pastures Dog Park, located on the site of a one-time zoo, boasts a swimming pond for water training. Eagle Point Park is open daily from 7 a.m. - dusk.
  • Mines of Spain State Park - 8991 Bellevue Heights Road, Dubuque, IA 52003
    Gain fascinating insights into the early days of Iowa with a visit to the Mines of Spain State Park, just south of Dubuque homes for sale. The spectacular 1,432-acre park bears the city's original name as bestowed by its founder, Julien Dubuque when his petition for ownership was granted by the Spanish governor in 1796. More than a dozen nature walks and trails include the Julien Dubuque Foot Trail, which features a scenic river overlook, picnic tables, and a monument designated as a National Historic Landmark. Mines of Spain State Park is open seven days a week from 4:30 a.m. - 10 p.m., and admission is free.
  • Riverfront Crossings Park - 1001 S. Clinton St., Iowa City, IA 52240
    Built on land that was resurrected after the 2008 flood, Riverfront Crossings Park has been acclaimed as the signature urban park near Iowa City homes for sale. Located alongside the Iowa River, the beautiful green space provides quick access to downtown Iowa City, the University of Iowa campus, and the Terry Trueblood Recreation Area. Bring the kids along to have fun in the cleverly designed play area featuring swings and slides as well as faux stones and logs for climbing. Hours are 6 a.m. - 10 p.m. daily.
  • Cedar Valley Nature Trail - Cedar Rapids, IA 52406
    Spanning 70 miles across four counties, the Cedar Valley Nature Trail was one of the first "linear parks" established not far from Cedar Rapids homes for sale. In the early 1980s, a citizen's coalition waged a successful campaign to obtain the former rail bed for use as a recreational trail. The Historic Center Point Depot serves as a museum and rest stop along the way.
  • Wildcat Den State Park - 1884 Wildcat Den Road., Muscatine, IA 52761
    Filled with historic and natural wonders, Wildcat Den State Park is an Instagram carousel waiting to happen. Trails at this much-photographed park, only minutes from Muscatine homes for sale, take visitors along sandstone bluffs marked with various geological formations. Wildcat Den also features man-made attractions in the Pine Creek Grist Mill, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and a one-room schoolhouse. Wildcat Den is open seven days a week from 4 a.m. - 10:30 p.m., and there is no entrance fee.
  • North Gorge Trail System - 9668 Golf Course Road, Burlington, IA 52601
    While the North Gorge Trail System is great for hiking, it's acclaimed for its singletrack mountain bike trails. Five out of six of the trails hold a five-star rating on Trailforks, a crowd-sourced trail management database. Degrees of difficulty range across the spectrum, from the easy Green Mile to the black diamond-rated Dust to Dust. Conveniently located close to Burlington homes for sale, the trails are open round the clock.
