Did you know that Iowa is ranked the #1 state in the nation for housing affordability? And, according to new research from Moneywise and NAR, Iowa has been named the fifth best state for first-time homebuyers with an average down payment requirement of $23,844.34, beating the national, overall average of $43,870.93. They ranked the 50 states based on the median price for houses in each respective state as provided by Zillow and the average down payment percentage of 13%. The average Zillow home value is $183,418. With ample opportunities for businesses to grow, Iowans are equally committed to building lasting communities that hold the honor of low-cost living.

Iowa has also adopted tax-friendly policies, eliminating tax on retirement income and making strides to decrease individual income tax rates to a flat rate of 3.9%...

The residential real estate sales volume in the Quad Cities reached its highest mid-year level ever through June of this year. Combined sales in the Iowa and Illinois Quad Cities were up 3.5% over last year. This increase was reflective of 4.1% fewer actual properties sold, but an 8% increase in average sales price from $169,800 to $183,400.

● Iowa Quad Cities: the highest number of sales in 15 years, since 2004. Compared to the 1st half of 2018, sales volume was up 12%. Listing inventory is up 3% and there are 2.8 months of inventory - a seller's market. The average sales price is $222,600.

● Illinois Quad Cities: 5-year low in the number of sales. Sales volume is below mid-year 2017 and 2018. There were 6% more properties for sale and 4.8 months of inventory - a market balanced between buyers and sellers. The average sales price is $130,100.

Ruhl&Ruhl Realtors has ranked once again as the largest privately-owned real estate company in Iowa.

REAL Trends 500 ranks the Top 500 real estate companies in the country according to the number of residential transactions and sales volume. Ruhl&Ruhl Realtors ranks number 1 in Iowa and number 130 nationally based on 5,336 transactions closed in 2018. This places Ruhl&Ruhl Realtors in the top 1% nationally. REAL Trends 500 ranks companies on residential transactions only. When we add back in farm and land and commercial transactions, Ruhl&Ruhl Realtors closed 5,429 sides in 2018. On average, Ruhl agents closed 16.7 transactions per agent in 2018.
