The town of Burlington rests along the mighty Mississippi about an hour south of the Quad Cities. When you look on a map, it would seem that besides the neighboring community of Fort Madison, there aren't very many towns near Burlington, but don't let this area fool you, as it has allowed Burlington to create a style that is entirely its own. Take the restaurants in the area, for instance, a variety of delicious eats and drinks ranging from European-influenced cafes to lively food trucks line the historic downtown streets. If you are looking to dine in and around Burlington you are in luck – the agents in our Burlington office have shared their favorite places to dine and grab a drink in Burlington and Fort Madison, Iowa.

Coffee / Café

Start your day with a boost of caffeine at Swed & Co Coffee where the café has been growing locally since 2017. "It's hands down the best place to get coffee in southeast Iowa." Grab a coffee to go or sit and socialize, and also the perfect place to meet up with friends, family, or clients for a light lunch. If coffee isn't your drink of choice try the Victoria Tea Room a quaint, English-inspired tearoom. With lots of tea varieties, you're sure to find a tea to your liking. Also, make sure you order a few pastries as they have the "best pastries around." Fine & Casual Dining Dining at The Drake offers its patrons a one-of-a-kind dining experience in Burlington with a large dining area and patio that showcase views up and down the Mississippi River. For the best burgers in Burlington, you'll want to head over to The SOM where you'll find not only delicious hamburgers and classic dishes with a twist! Try the Curry PB&J and you'll see what we mean!

Italian Cuisine

Established in 1972, Napoli Pizza has mastered its craft over the generations. Their winning dishes are their pizza options, but Napoli's offers a variety of favorites including gyros. In Italian, La Tavola means the table, a sweet and simple name to remind those who dine at this restaurant what it means to slow down and enjoy your food with family and friends. The owners of LaTavola hope that when you pass through their doors you feel welcome as if you are dining in their actual home. And for parents who are at a loss on what to prepare for dinner, check out the 'Over-worked Mom Dinner Special." The meals serve 4-6 people are meant to make your night simpler with an easy and delicious dinner.

Asian Cuisine

Go-Fish is home to the "best sushi in Burlington with lots of options!" Even if not a fan of the traditional raw rolls, their menu features cooked tempura rolls that are equally as mouth-water. You may want to call ahead for a reservation, Go-Fish fills up fast! Authentic Thai food is hard to come by, which is why so many people love Pookie's Thai Cuisine. Located in downtown Burlington Pookies offers up great quality Thai food and has a rotating lunch menu and full dinner menu. Not in the mood for dining in? Pookies is a perfect to-go option.

Food Truck

Mama Knows is a Fort Madison staple! Described as a "Food truck/ pop-up food experience," Mama Knows keeps things interesting with an ever-changing menu. Each month a new menu is released, which you can find on their Facebook Page, the dishes are centered around protein-rich, plant options. Simply put it's "Fun, fresh, and super good food!"

Sweet Treats

Another Fort Madison favorite is Hall's Ice Cream! Satisfy your sweet tooth by ordering a Cyclone, cup, cone, float, or Dilly Bar with either chocolate, vanilla, or a rotating ice cream flavor of the day! Halls is a true classic that packs major summer nostalgia.

Dinner and Drink

The Hillside Inn is a wine bar in Fort Madison that features a crowd-pleasing selection of beer and wine. It may be why it's so popular. But it also may be the Wednesday open mic on the patio that keep people coming back for more! Mingle with friends as you sip your drink at this "low-key, folky, establishment that makes you feel at home." Corks and Barrels - Hip whiskey and wine bar in the historic Hesse Building downtown Fort Madison with fun food options like pretzel bites, charcuterie boards, and more! With a name like Martini's Grille, you know where to go for a classic cocktail. Known for its handcrafted martini cocktails, Martini's also features breathtaking views of the Mississippi to its diners. They have a wide array of delectable entrees, but they are famous for their Food Guru Original Chicken Lips. A dish that is comprised of buffalo-style chicken tenders served with Budweiser blue cheese.
