Whether you are thinking of selling your home this year or interested in increasing your home's value for your own peace of mind, when it comes to home improvement projects, it's important to know where to start! And it certainly doesn't hurt to know which projects will get you the biggest bang for your buck.

Exterior Projects

Exterior renovation projects that focus on highlighting your home's curb appeal have a solid return on investment. Projects like replacing garage doors, adding stone veneer, replacing windows, and sprucing up your landscape can enhance your home's value to the point where buyers may be willing to spend more on a home that makes a great first impression with eye-catching curb appeal.

Interior Projects

Interior projects, especially kitchen and bathroom projects, yield a high return on investment, but interestingly, minor kitchen and bath remodels typically fare better than full remodels. Of course, this depends on the age and condition of the home, but in a functional but dated home, you may want to consider updating hardware, lighting, and countertops before rolling up your sleeves for a full gut job.  Another consideration if your budget allows is to keep your cabinet boxes but just update the door fronts and replace your appliances with sleek energy-efficient models.

Home Improvement Projects

Remember, spending more doesn't mean you can expect a higher return on your investment. Simply changing the paint color in your home to a neutral color is a cost-effective way to change how your home looks and feels. So before you spend your hard-earned renovation budget make sure that the projects make sense for your home. Get a second opinion! I'd be happy to provide recommendations on what I'm seeing in your market and even your neighborhood. This can help you know what buyers are looking for and how to best allocate your money!
