Staycation in Newbo
Looking to travel across the Atlantic this weekend? Look no further than the heart of Cedar Rapids. Designated as an Iowa Cultural District, the Czech Village/New Bohemian District is also known as the NewBo District. The NewBo District provides visitors with art, history, shopping, and a wide variety of food. Food vendors inside the NewBo City Market represent a wide range of ethnic cuisines including Dumpling Darling, a Korean dumpling stand, and La Reyna, an authentic Mexican kitchen. Fantastic and diverse restaurants are sprinkled throughout NewBo, including Sauce Bar & Bistro and Tornado's Grub and Pub. The NewBo District is rich in history as well. The District includes museums like the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, and the African American Museum of Iowa. The District is also home to St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, which was founded in 1874, and continues to carry on Czech heritage. Looking for something a little bit artsy? NewBo has that too.
