For the third year, Ruhl&Ruhl welcomed Big Brothers Big Sisters to our Bettendorf Office to sell beautiful hanging baskets for their annual Plant Sale – helping to break fundraising records for the organization. Agents and staff members came energized and ready to help petal patrons select and carry their baskets. "It was great to see so many of our agents, staff and their families get involved in this very meaningful event," said Tammie Bouquet, a volunteer and Ruhl&Ruhl Realtors Accounting Clerk. For more than 20 years Big Brothers Big Sisters has hosted its annual Plant Sale fundraiser. The event offers pick-up or delivery of pre-purchased flowers as well as retail purchases the week prior to Mother's Day. A wide variety of high quality flowers and hanging baskets are offered at a very affordable price. The BBBS Plant Sale raises funds to support the organization's one - to - one mentoring programs in eastern Iowa and western Illinois. Sales reached a record high this year, raising more than $55,000. More than 3,200 flats of flowers and 1,600 hanging baskets were sold, an 11% increase from 2013. "Right from the start pre-orders were up from last year and then Mother Nature continued the good fortune by delivering pleasant, 70 degree weather for retail, keeping sales strong" said Kayla Kiesey, Big Brothers Big Sisters Director of Events & Community Partnership. Ruhl&Ruhl is proud to support Big Brothers Big Sisters and happy to have been a part of reaching a new milestone. "By focusing on our children, we are investing in our communities' future," said Caroline Ruhl. "We are happy to support such a worthwhile organization." Over the past 25 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has helped more than 30,000 children in the Mississippi Valley achieve academic and social success through the support of a caring adult mentor.
