REAL Trends, a communications and consulting company considered to be the leading source of analysis and information on the residential brokerage and housing industry, completed the rankings based on 12 different categories, which include:

"We feel these 12 metrics accurately portray the overall performance of each site, not only how well each site is search engine optimized, but whether or not consumers are receiving and consuming the content they want," wrote Travis Saxton, REAL Trends Marketing and Technology Manager. The ranking is part of the REAL Trends 2013 Online Performance Study, which outlines marketing and technology trends in the real estate industry. Participants provided REAL Trends with access to their company's Google Analytics and data was also collected from 3^rd party companies, like mobile developers and technology companies. Ruhl&Ruhl Realtors launched their new site in May of this year, giving the public access to search for real estate in 29 counties across eastern Iowa, western Illinois and southwest Wisconsin. This complete redesign added new features like allowing consumers to find information on properties that have recently sold in their areas and providing access to new reports so they can identify real estate trends in their neighborhood.
