Brian Sullivan, Senior National Correspondent and News Anchor of CNBC's 'Worldwide Exchange', recorded a segment in the Quad Cities earlier this month that included insights from local businesses around our area on how the Midwest is dealing with inflation, mortgage rates, home appreciation, and the housing supply and demand. Brian sits down with John Anderson of Quad Cities Bank and Trust, Tim Baldwin, Co-Owner of Front Street Brewery, and Ruhl&Ruhl's very own Chris Beason to better understand how inflation affects everything from the cost of beer to lumber and supplies for new construction.

After a sharp decline in housing sales due to COVID-19 from mid-March until roughly the end of May, housing sales rose to heights not seen since the record years of 2005-2006. Across our region in 2020 we experienced:

•10% more properties sold than in 2019
•The average sales price increased by 6% compared to 2019
•The number of properties for sale 12-31- 2020 was down by 40% from 12-31- 2019. Inventory has hit an all-time low.

The future of real estate is here, and it is awesome! Here at Ruhl&Ruhl Realtors, we pride ourselves in providing our agents and clients with the most up-to-date technologies. Check out some of the ways our agents are keeping up with the fast-paced real estate environment in Dubuque and the Quad Cities!
Jared, and many other Dubuque agents, are now utilizing 3D Matterport tours to help sell real estate. These tours give potential buyers a virtual look at the inside of the home, and can rule out any potential buyers who are not serious right away. There are many other benefits, like out-of-town or busy buyers have the chance to look at a property without physically being there. Jared had an experience where an out-of-town buyer started paperwork on a listing, only because they were able to see the home virtually! It also encourages sellers to have their home in "tip-top" shape, as the tour is extremely thorough. Jared notes, "a byproduct of doing this tour is the seller is motivated to have their home beautifully staged!" No matter the benefit, these 3D views are a futuristic way to tour the home. View a 3D tour of Jared's listing here!
Kurt recently purchased a drone, and has been using it to his advantage in new construction subdivisions. According to Kurt, the images and videos from his drone have helped many potential clients pinpoint the locations of subdivisions like Pigeon Creek and Greyhawk.
