Southeast Quadrant – Cedar Rapids Community

The Southeast District offers diverse housing options with urban options in downtown and the Newbo District and more rural options in the Cedar Valley area. All communities offer great schools within the Cedar Rapids Community School District, including Metro High School and Washington High School.

Parks: The parks in this quadrant range from hiking trails to a miniature farm. Visit the Sac & Fox Trail along the Cedar River to access a 7.1 mile wooded and prairie trail. Or check out Van Vechten Park with access to ball diamonds, playgrounds and a rentable pavilion. Bever Park also has a playground and pavilion, but it is also home to Old McDonald’s Farm. Enjoy the farm exhibit daily April through October. Finally, Indian Creek Nature Center offers trails to wander, programs to participate in and so much more.

Newbo City Market: This market is a dynamic public space promoting health, happiness and well-being in the heart of the New Bohemia District near downtown Cedar Rapids. As a gathering place, business incubator and event center, NewBo City Market helps many different people and organizations.

Brucemore: Take a tour of the historic 26-acre estate with a 19th-century mansion, filled with the stories of three Cedar Rapids families. Concerts, theater, programs and tours enliven the historical site and celebrate the heritage of a community.

Cedar Rapids Museum of Art: Established in 1905, this museum strives to be a thriving and dynamic art museum for the community and visitors.
