The 2.3-mile village was established in 1856 by farmers and quickly expanded by the Coal Valley Mining Company.
Coal Valley is expanding to include a greater range of housing types to accommodate the needs of its residents and to provide space for commercial and residential development.
The Oakwood Country Club offers one of the best golf courses in the Quad Cities. Oakwood Country Club is located in Coal Valley and was the original home of the Hardee’s Golf Classic.
