About Silvis
Silvis, IL—part of the Quad Cities—was incorporated in 1906 and is named after Richard Shippen Silvis, one of the original settlers in the area whose family ran the Silvis Mining Company. With less than 10,000 residents, Silvis has retained its small-town roots, but don’t let the population fool you! There are still plenty of things to do and see here, as well as in the Quad Cities area. Known as the City of Progress, Silvis is a suburb of Davenport and is ranked #46 for Suburbs With the Lowest Cost of Living in Illinois and #86 for Most Diverse Suburbs in Illinois. While Silvis may be small in population, it packs a BIG punch when it comes to community and things to do in and around it.

Things to Do in Silvis
One of the major attractions is TPC Deere Run which is routinely ranked as a top public golf course in the nation. The course hosts the PGA Tour’s annual John Deere Classic and people from all over the country come to Silvis to attend. Did you know that caddies were first allowed to wear shorts at the 1999 John Deere Classic in a “first-time policy change” in the PGA TOUR’s 83-year history? Talk about groundbreaking!
When it comes to food and fun, Bent River is a local brewery and restaurant that is a local gem we can’t recommend enough. Get the Uncommon and a burger, enjoy the original architecture, and maybe if you’re up for it, grab a beer sampler. Tap 22 Bar & Grill has a long beer list as well. Try the tin can nachos or watch your Greek cheese go up in flames for saganaki at Doc’s Inn, it’s pretty awesome!
Visit Hero Street in Silvis which honors the veterans of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. At present, there have been over 100 young men and women from Second Street who have served the U.S. Military Forces and it continues to climb.
