C.J. has been a member of the Muscatine County and area communities since 1986.
C.J. grew up in the small community of Tipton, Iowa and graduated high school there, before moving on to Mt. Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa (Criminal Justice Administration).
He had a long and significant career with the Muscatine County Sheriff's Office, where he retired from at the end of 2020. C.J. worked in many roles, including 10 years in narcotics where he was the Drug Task Force Commander. Ryan rose through the ranks and served as a Lieutenant, Captain, and Chief Deputy, prior to becoming the Muscatine Couinty Sheriff. Public safety and helping people were his passion.
C.J. has long been involved in efforts to help the community and would regularly participate in elder events, Toyz for Kids, Special Olympics, Special Needs Easter Egg Hunt, Wilton Trap Team, Fire Dept. and First Responder fundraisers and many other events.
