With a population of 20,333 East Moline is the smallest of the cities in the Quad Cities metropolitan area, which numbers a total population of nearly 400,000 people. The other cities include Bettendorf and Davenport, Iowa, and Rock Island and Moline, Illinois.
Brief History
East Moline resulted from the efforts of the East Moline Company to sell land and create a town. The planned town was platted in 1895. A barbecue and land auction was held by the company, but they succeeded in selling only 5 of 2000 lots. Development was significantly delayed. Deere&Company established a factory here in 1900 and other companies followed. East Moline was incorporated as a village in 1903 and as a city in 1907.
The Community

Attractions and Entertainment
The Rock Island County Fairgrounds is located in East Moline, as is the East Moline Speedway. The Island Marina serves as one of the area access points to the Mississippi River. There are also public golf courses and TPC course in nearby Silvis, Illinois.

Getting To and From
The Quad Cities area is served by interstate highways I-74, I-80, and I-88. Five airlines provide service from the Quad-Cities International Airport. Davenport Municipal Airport serves general aviation. Amtrak has a station in nearby Galesburg.
